Break time.
Well after about 15 months on SR and into my 12th month of sobriety (9th off the benzos) I have decided to have a break for a while and pursue a few other avenues.
I have found SR very helpful, especially the openness and lack of dogma relevant to recovery...... Keep up the good work, as I too will continue to work on my sobriety,and efforts at becoming a better individual, in due course.

Thank you all for the kind remarks.
I see alcohol, illicit drugs, some prescription drugs, along with cigarettes, as major health hazards. At times too, we need to back off a bit zooming in on life's other issues some of which may also be very important and in need of some checks and balancing.
Hence my rest break.

In a pm to me it was suggested "Unreal" and that I had fled the forum.
Elsewhere, publicly, I appear to have been depicted as a sore looser, who can't tolerate criticism. (I have not fled the forum; simply taking a rest.)
While there may some truth to this, (my impulsiveness) there are two sides to every story.Well may we use use CBT to criticize others, but surely what is good for the goose is good for the gander.....
Where others are criticized as responding incorrectly, being immature in their sobriety/ addiction, paranoid, whatever?, it follows that the person making these remarks is 'right', a factor that has not been established.In reality things usually are somewhere in between.
While unity in any objective is important (AA for example) so is some degree of personal autonomy, and the right to make personal considerations, which may or may not be paranoid. While how we assess things is personal : this does not mean we have to katow to all of the perspectives held by the other person....does it?
In AA I try to be a consensus person, for the sake of unity, but this is not always possible, or healthy in my opinion. On forums too, I endeavour to respect the views of others. However, when a slab of information seems directed towards me (my paranoia perhaps) I really feel the need to defend myself. I endeavour to respect, even admire the views of others, but not to the point of completely denigrating my own values whether fleeting or more lasting........

Ok let's get this straight my friend. The reason you are leaving SR is because I made a simple statement to you that I listed anniversaries in the 24 hour club based on consecutive days clean and sober and because you have 2 dates you didn't like that.
I do not have time to track seperate dates. So I use the day a person was free from abusing their drug or drugs of choice. Alcohol and drugs.
That's it!!! That's all.
I let you know how I do it and you got all defensive. I do not care what you do. Your recovery is not my business. I do not have a personal vendetta against you. I have consistently encouraged you since you started coming into the 24 hour club. I am happy you are alcohol free for almost a year! I am happy your are benzo free for 9 months.
You can post whatever you want anywhere you want and list as many dates as you want. I can not. I do not have time, so it makes the most sense to list anniversaries based on consecutive days clean and sober.
Total time free from the drug we were abusing be it alcohol, drugs or both!
And yes I think it is UNREAL that you are leaving SR because of it. The 24 hour club is just one thread. There are a thousand more. If you don't like the way I run it then volunteer for service or stop coming onto that thread if you are not happy about it.
I do this on a volunteer basis.
If you would like to volunteer and help me to track different dates for different people, be my guest.
Here is the list, send a pm to each of these people and see if they have 2 different dates.
If not then please let it go !!!!!!!!!!!!! And this is not a thread about you or me and I am not looking for

I considered the tone a little annoyed......

As I have indicated IMO , when we criticize others responses, we also need to look at our own communications, which may be less than ideal, which is only human.
Re clean time, I think you are technically correct, though I wonder at all the smokers outside NA, meetings, as to their real drug cleanness, now in 2014, as opposed to Bill's time......
I wish you well in your valued work, and there is certainly no ill will on my part.
