I just noticed that 3 more SR members have reported that they are over 60 years of age.

I am so glad they are here to support staying alive with sobriety.

Congrats to all the young'uns for figuring things out early in life!
And also for the ones in my age group for realizing it's never too late!

25 years old. Never thought someone could become a full blown alcoholic this young.

Glad I found this site when I did though.

31, which is funny because most people think I'm 23-24 (I look young). I often have to show them my ID because they don't believe me.

I'm 26 but in the exact same boat. I'm so glad I realized I had a problem and found this place before it got worse.

Welcome Oceanlady to staying alive with sobriety and adding to the 38 SR members who have already riported on this thread.

I shout it from the roof tops at age 82 because God and recovery saved my life then made it much better than it was when I was high on alcohol and valium every night.

I'm 26

Its so weird to be mid twenties instead of early twenties. I never thought about turning 30 until now. I hope I have all my **** together by then.

Jade, don't know why but I remember turning 30 being a tough one for me...I look back and realize I was still so very young! However. I still feel young in my sixties !

Time goes by so fast now! I heard that the older you get the less you worry about age. I hope thats true. A lot of my friends are worried about 30. I feel like its because by 30 you are officially an adult - you're supposed to have a good job or be married or whatever people think Is supposed to be success. So we feel a sense of failure if we aren't there yet. But twenties are comforting. Its like "okay I'm not as responsible as I should be but I'm still in my twenties".

Because people thin k in your twenties its okay to go party. In your thirties it stops being cool.

Then 30 finally comes and there's no excuse for certain types of behavior.

Getting Better ,Not Older

I'm 58, 28 years older than I ever dream't! Don't feel it but look back and pray I don't die like my dad, he retired at 62 due to alcoholism and it's related health issues. Used to get up and take the bus to the subway to the train to the other 3 busses to get to work in NJ. Never knew him not to drink his rotgut Gallo wine. Only found out in my 30's that he never drank before I was born, started when my sister I never knew died of a relatively minor illness where he was too proud to ask a neighbor that had a phone to call for help! He was never the same my mom told me in my thirties! He never cashed his 1st Social Security check!
