Hi 2granddaughters. I'm not going to AA or any other meetings. I've live just outside of manchester and there isn't any near me and I don't drive either.
Once I've been paid I'm going to see a private counsilor as I have some issues I need to cover which I would not like to discuss at an AA meeting too

Jeans - don't spend this time worrying about how things could go wrong bud. You got hired for a great job, you're sober, you're moving forward in life. Give yourself a pat on the back and tackle the job with all your enthusiasm. I was worried about the same thing you're concerned about, but it all went to the wayside when I just immersed myself into the new job (after I quit drinking) and just treated it like a 2nd chance in life. Show them why you deserved to get hired....go make that money man! Congrats!
I started my new job yesterday and I love it. It's really hard but my concentration is so much better now i'm sober. I'm so glad I applied for it and it's right near loads of shops so I get to do a bit of retail therapy at lunch.
thanks for everyone that posted here

I think it would be unusual if you weren't nervous about a new job! Your reaction is just like a normal sober person's reaction. Congratulations on the new job, I'm sure it won't be easy but you'll do great. It's a new start for you.
