It follows 4 alcoholics from the hospital to their homes.

This is distressing viewing, so bear that in mind if you plan to watch it but I thought it was also great reminder to keep on doing what i'm doing and staying off the booze.

It's definitely a great documentary to watch if you seek motivation to stay sober!

I also like to watch Ferguson speaking from the heart:

Besides this movie is there any other good ones anyone could recommend based of alcohol recovery? I actually rewatched Clean and Sober with Michael Keaton the other day. I have seen it before, but it was enjoyable to watch with a new prespective.

Rain in my heart is the most wrenching thing I have ever seen. I could not make it half way through.

I think it ought to be required viewing in middle school.

Well, there's always the classics that started this trend:

"The Lost Weekend" and "Days of Wine and Roses"

I like Hubert Selby Jr., so I must recommend "Requiem For a Dream"

Note that these aren't really happy ending "recovery" movies like "Clean and Sober," though.

Rain In My Heart is certainly not your typical "recovery" flick.

It is raw.

There is an ongoing thread for it from 2007:

Just saw a movie (on an airplane, so it is probably on DVD) called "Another Year". Didn't notice it while it was in the theaters---it is an independent film from the UK.

But it was SO sad. Plot revolves around a fairly smug middle-aged couple and their friends, especially a woman named Mary, who is a fairly far-gone alcoholic. What I appreciated was that it wasn't a cheap shot make-fun-of the-drunk-woman film. It was wrenching to watch this woman unravel.

For women who think they are "high-functioning" alcoholics it might be a real eye-opener. Was hard to watch but I'm glad I did. What was interesting and nuanced was the watching her through her friends' eyes. She thought she wasn't that overtly drunk, but was only fooling herself.

Oh, and I watched it on an international flight---which is usually when I would drink the most! Was good to be sober and watching.

Just watched "Drunks", found it on the bit torrents. It's centered around an AA meeting, Richard Lewis goes out and uses again. It was pretty good.

I've been looking for this movie on the torrents forever. BTS1 can you hip me to the site that had a torrent of it? PM me if you'd like.
