Hi everyone, still trying to kick hard.
Happy New Year to you all, hope you're having a good one. Mine is starting off really rocky as I've had to deal with some of my mentally disabled family and depression, I screwed up my resolution due to it ... well due to me really, andd... hope everyone's doing well. I got a question, if you've been binging with alcohol for 4-6 months and quit and get through withdrawal, do the hangover effects go away such as the pains, headaches/etc? I've been suffering a bit more brutally recently, the adverse affects are getting a little worse... and I'm kind of afraid. Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced it, not to mention ... my SINUSES with this weather are literally killing me-last night I couldn't stop coughing, had chest pain and shortness of breath is driving me insane. Afraid of losing all I hold dear and ... just had to vent.
Well, I certainly hope you don't discover what I did shortly after I got sober.
Violent headaches. Finally learned they were migraines.
Started AFTER I got sober. Still get them at times. Since 1987 now. Imitrex only thing that helps. Thought I messed up the blood flow to my brain from injecting the cocaine with the heroin all those years. Turns out, they told me I probably ALWAYS had migraines. Just wasn't experiencing them before, because I was always medicating myself.
But I know using or drinking sure would have made things a whole lot worse. Best to you. Don't drink.
Get involved in recovery.

There is post-acute withdrawal that can last for quite a while, although it's not serious. I don't know if headaches or pains are part of it. I've only paid attention to the psychological stuff myself.
But I think Nyte Byrd brings up a very good point. Headaches might be normal in post-acute withdrawal, but they are also normal in migraines, also normal in brain tumors. I think unless it comes to a point when you feel ready to get a medical diagnosis there's really nothing to do but guess.

You have near a thousand posts over a four year period on this forum,
and you still don't relate potential health issues with your binge drinking?
If you are indeed afraid, what level of fear is required for you to take responsible action to end this suffering you are inflicting? The answer for me was "enough". When you hit "enough", help is available. My hope is you endure no more pain than needed to get you to do what you need to do.
Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this".
Doctor: "Quit doing that".

Paulos I know its a difficult time for you but I hope you pick up quit and get into recovery.
You know the drill here. Alcoholism is progressive, it will destroy your health - mentally/physically and for each person it is different and it will just continue to eat away at you. I know this because that is what happened.
I assure it will get worse so I hope you see the best solution to everything is to quit and get support.
Always here for you.

Thanks all, it's just I am so USED to using the alcohol as THE source of relief from my problems... and then sometimes I think "It's too late, I've damaged my brain and body it's over anyway" Ugh. Thanks for caring all.
You see, the same me will drink again. Maybe this is true with you too?
AA removed the obession of drinking and doing drugs, but I'm not special. It can work for you too.
