AA Zoom meetings-Enjoying them?

So a buddy sends me a link to a meeting which starts at 7 am. I'm up at 6:45, grab a coffee then lean back in my nice comfortable chair.

Don't have to go anywhere except to the kitchen to get more coffee and/or a roll.

I kinda like this.

When things get back to normal and meetings reopen it will be interesting if Zoom meetings continue as a supplement.

My Home group has a Zoom meeting. I quite enjoy that because I know all the people there, where they are at, and it is nice to stay in touch. We are quite a close group.

But TBH I find zoom meetings a poor substitute for f2f meetings. I can't get a feel for who is new, how they are doing, who wants to talk after the meeting. I tried a couple of other zoom meetings, but it just doesn't catch my interest.

I guess I am zoom-phobic. Looking forward to regular meetings resuming and f2f 12 step.

Online meetings have been happening for over twenty years now. We'll just have more attendees now...…

For sure but who wants to attend a meeting were you have to type everything. Today almost everyone has a laptop or desktop with a camera and microphone built in.

The Zoom meeting I attended I do nothing but clink on the link and I'm good to go.

I haven’t Zoomed a meeting yet, but I reckon I’ll try soon.

I sure miss my regular meetings, though.

Love em!

It's especially fun to go to my hometown to hear the accent, or to New York just because I can.

intherooms reminds me of SR - international community, so I never know when I'll be hanging around with Brits or Aussies or the Irish. This community has been doing online meetings for quite some time and they are pros!

I like the Zoom meetings a lot. They are not a full substitute for a FTF meeting but I can now attend my old home group meetings again. Since I changed jobs it was difficult to get there FTF.

In addition to my local meetings I am also attending AA zoom meetings all over the country. This is a unique opportunity. If you are an AAer try some out of town meetings too.

I like them. I never went to f2f as too nervous about walking into a room of strangers.
My first one was Friday evening. Although it was a U.K. meeting we had attendees from New York and San Francisco.

Hi Startanew68 an AA spokesman here in Australia reported that the attendance at Zoom meeting was triple that of face to face meetings That has to be a good thing. Do you think that now you have experienced zoom meetings you would have the confidence now to participate in regular meetings when things return to normal?
I have yet to participate in one but plan to soon.....

It'll be interesting how many Zoom meetings stay up after things get back to normal. They can be mighty convenient.

I attended an 11:30 meeting this morning in another area of the U.S. which had about 25 people.

I have been doing a lot of Zoom and Paltalk meetings.

No substitute for f to f,but I have enjoyed them.Added bonus I can knit at the same time!

I agree they aren't a substitute for f to f.

However, they may end up being a popular supplement.

If anyone is interested I can provide a link to a Zoom meeting list (California time). Most you either don't need a password or the password is provided. PM me and I'll send the link.

Does anyone also have a link to Zoom meeting list that I can access? I would think the larger cities like N.Y or London would have such a meeting list but I can't seem to find anything.

Thanks

O.k. get up this morning and a couple of hours later it's 9 am west coast time in the States.

So, I look at the time zone and see it's 5 p.m in London.

Which means the evening meetings over there are just getting started.

A minute or two later I'm listening to the lads in Chelsea.

Washington DC and suburban Maryland and Virginia AA Zoom meetings can be found here:

https://aa-dc.org/meetings?tsml-time...&tsml-type=ONL

It defaults to upcoming meetings but you can change the day time windows to customize the search.
