I just decided to look up my quit date. Because I remember gettingsmarter was here with me....and encouraged me so much when I quit! Gettingsmarter you have no idea how much you helped me get over those first few days. I can hardly remember them now. Its weird how they seem like a thousand days away? I go thru days now without even a single thought about smoking!? So strange.

Peace, aistar, DG nd Alisheba and everyone who encouraged me if you are out there....a huge thank you to you too for helping me thru the most difficult time of my life!

((((Gettingsmarter)))) you are awesome!

Thank you Li that means a lot.
Listening to you go through the thick of it as I was just getting out of it definitely helped me stay the course.

Gettingsmarter, way to go on 6 months!!! For me, it was around that time that smoking seemed to start to just turn into a non-issue.

CleaninLI- I don't come here often any more, but peaking in today. Your post was so sweet. It's really nice to know that as we make these changes, we can help other people along the way.

Today is 2.5 years cigarette free for me!!! It's really amazing to think back on my path to getting here. For a long time I was stuck in this cycle of quitting, relapsing and quitting again. I'm not sure I ever thought that I would get here, and I'm sure the people that saw me at that time would have really doubted it too. But if I can do it, anyone can.

For me, committing to one day at a time smoke-free was really key. Although there was also an aspect of committing to just not smoking PERIOD that really helped too. I used to write every day, "I will not smoke for today" Or "Just for today I will not smoke" or some variation thereof. These days, I kind of just do a short-hand of that- I write down how many days I have quit in my planner every day. Today is 911 days smokefree. Wow!!!

I hope everybody keeps at it. I have never regretted quitting, but every single time I relapsed I was full of guilt, remorse, regret and fear.

I'd like to say that quitting smoking has been very empowering. When you are in the period of daily relapses on nicotine it can really beat you down and make you feel powerless. I care about myself a lot more now. Quitting smoking has been a huge influence in me being able to stop drinking too. Finally I have 70 days alcohol free. I think quitting smoking has taught me that you can absolutely say NO to the bad voice. Lost of aspects of my life are improving.

Thanks for listening to my lunch time ramble. Have a great day everyone.

I had a smoking dream last night, in the dream I thought "Oh no, I relapsed, when did I start smoking again?" and I felt bad. Well, better to relapse in dreams than in real life. Day 57.

Doing well thanks. One week! 24 more please.

I had a crazy stressful workday yesterday but I made it through. Went to a SMART meeting last night with a group I know. I was happy to say I was nicotine free.

Bliss, I hadn't even thought about smoking dreams but that makes sense. Congrats in 57 days!
