I volunteer at a learning center on Saturday morning, so there's that. Not much on beyond that. Yard work now that it's gotten cooler. Oh, and a nap. Maybe two.

My weekend was supposed to be ALL about me - RAH & I were going to go away for the weekend but plans got postponed for 2-3 weeks from now. It may just work out better that way, but I'm still a little bummed.

And now I'm hosting a sleepover for DD & her friends instead - talk about a script flip.... 3 teen girls, pray for me....

So it's all about the little stuff instead like - I have the next 3 books from a series that I adore. I had read the entire series a few years ago & these have been published since then. Pure junk fiction too, it'll be a nice change.

And that nap idea just sounded smart...... penciling that one in too...

But now I NEED to know more about:

We have to take a big pile of rubbish to the "self deposit station" on Saturday. Things like some old box springs, and a bunch of empty boxes from the move. Once that stuff is out of the garage, we should be able to organize what's left in there (to my knowledge, we've gotten all of the "house" stuff out of the garage as of last weekend).

We'll have some laundry and housework. And DS has requested a marathon of the various Madagascar movies. Should be a quiet and relaxing weekend for us.

DS lately is obsessed with the "Polka Dot Afro" song from the third movie. Except he never gets the words right. But that's not the point--the point is his dance, which involves a lot of "booty butt" shaking (his words).

But do you shake your "booty butt" while singing it?

My nephew is getting close to achieving Eagle Scout and he has a ceremony at a lake this weekend - can't wait. Other than that, I intend on being LAZY!

That is so cool! What was his project? There is a young man at our church who is finishing up his Eagle Scout, and his project was to completely rebuild a very, very nice sandbox for the children at the church's day care center. Complete with a roof to keep the rain out, and a retractable cover to keep the cats out!

THe community service project is all he really has left to do. I think hes just under a year or so out from Eagle, this is his court of honor ceremony.

Oh the sandbox sounds cool! Those boys do so much - very honorable!

Awesome! Another Eagle Scout at our church made a nature trail through the little swath of prairie next to the K-8 school where DS attends first grade. The creativity never ceases to amaze me.

My weekend plans include volunteering at Bassetfest (BassetFest 2016), which I did for the first time last summer. What a sight to see a field full of bassets and their assorted friends frolicking and roo-ing!

I didn't take my houndies last year and am unsure if I will this year either. Ned, the basset, would likely be fine. However Daisy, the terrier mix, is not always good w/other dogs. Leaving her home alone is not an option b/c she is VERY bonded to her brother and stresses quite a bit if he's not around. But they got a lovely walk at the quarry park today and will get another tomorrow AM, so I think they'll be fine w/that...

And beyond that, I am just planning on relaxing and perhaps doing some work in the yard if the weather is cool and dry enough, singing "I like to move it, move it" all the while!

Firesprite, I wish I had a recipe for raspberry puff pastry pretzels, but I don't. A local bakery nearby makes them and I haven't been able to find them anywhere else. The unavailability of these pretzels is probably a very good thing for my waistline (we come down to Jersey Shore only once or twice a year).

I will gladly admit that I run to eat. Yummity yum yum yum.

Sheesh, I feel so culturally INCOMPETENT--I haven't seen ANY of the Madagascars. But those raspberry puff pastry pretzels (I live in NJ and never even knew that was a THING) sound incredible.

I'm going to enjoy a non-deadline weekend, after my visit from my coworkers and then the visit from my son and his g/f. I feel like all I've been doing for the past two months is get the house in condition to receive guests, but I managed to pull it off! I had carpets cleaned and the house professionally cleaned, did a major update of the uneffing of my habitat, begun a couple years ago. Really, the main thing that remains to be done is to do a semi-organization of my basement, just enough so I can safely let the cats go down there. Ever since my first sewer backup, things have been chaotic down there and I've had the cats' litter box upstairs in the alcove off the living room. Problematic for a number of reasons--primarily that the litter gets tracked onto the furniture. I want to get that thing moved BACK to the basement, where it belongs, but everything's so precariously piled down there I don't dare let the cats go down.

I have a few other minor projects--replacing all the hinges on my kitchen cabinets (already replaced all the handles, haven't had time to replace the hinges); doing some touchups to the cabinets where the stain is worn, and recovering my dining room chair seats. But the place actually looks, right now, the best it ever has (at least, until you look at the foundation).

Tomorrow morning I'll get my hair cut (which I desperately need).

The other thing this weekend is celebrating my sobriety anniversary--I'll have 8 years on Sunday, and will be speaking at my home group. So I've got a lot of gratitude penciled in, as well.
