Music!
Wow, this song is intense
Katy Perry - Circle The Drain
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqarXvTf_jU#t=147
my favorite part:
Thought that I was the exception
I could rewrite your addiction
You could've been the greatest
But you'd rather get wasted
You fall asleep during foreplay
'Cause the pills you take are more your forte
I'm not sticking around
To watch you go down
Wanna be your lover, not your f***ing mother
Can't be your savior, I don't have the power
I'm not gonna stay and watch you circle the drain
Watch you circle the drain, watch you circle the drain

Bumping back to the top today. Still making my way through the suggestions in this thread.... still welcoming all new shares.
Sometimes music is my very best therapy. I always prefer it as loud as possible, louder than my thoughts, lol..... then I can actually focus more intently, with music blocking the rest of the world out. I do my BEST thinking like this & as a teen I remember setting up the stereo in my room so that all speakers faced into a center point, where I could lie down & absolutely immerse myself into the sound & the vibration.
This morning I was running a bit early (never happens) & became mesmerized listening to Temple of the Dog/Chris Cornell at an {ahem} obnoxiously high volume. There is something resonant in his voice that triggers emotions deep inside of me, something downright therapeutic in his tone.
Suncatcher - Cold by Crossfade is one of my favorite songs ever - have you heard *this* acoustic version? Haunting, amazing, fantabulous!

BodkinVanHorn - Ida Maria, never heard of her before but a I'm a fan now, thank you!

I don't have any deep meaningful lyrics to share, but I have to admit that I am a Kelly Clarkson addict now- and I never listened to her at all before. I think my doggies are sick of hearing "Since you been gone" and traumatized by me dancing and jumping around the house to it. But it make me smile :-)
I've just discovered a great visual to combine with some epic music. This has been my inspirational and uplifting combo. It blends the soundtrack from the original "Conan the Barbarian" movie with some beautifully done 3D fractal images.
How to do it:
1. Open up two separate browser windows in Internet Explorer.
2. In the first one, load the YouTube visuals --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi2PPHEqXsw <-- Mute the sound. Pause it to start, after any ads.
3. In the second window, load the Youtube audio --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_xgecR0ifo <-- Pause this to start after any ads. Hit "Play" and "-" to reduce screen.
4. Back in the first window, hit play, adjust to max graphics, and enlarge to full screen.
5. Kick back and enjoy the ride!

And now I wanna pull all of my Pearl Jam cd's out, lol. Their album "ten" fits perfectly into recovery music, he is such an emphatic performer. I've always thought the 2 of them compliment each other so well with their different ranges and styles.
I have a song for all of us!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxdn...M&spfreload=10
Waking Up To You - The Dreadful Yawns
Another night where I fail to make a fight.
I got good at giving in the day with you.
It's all I seem to do-oo-oo.
It's all I seem to do.
You are the words, but I couldn't find the nerve.
Now I finally feel my time is coming through.
And I'll be rid of you-oo-oo.
I'll be rid of you.
The hatchet's coming down,
I know you can't feel it now,
But soon the strings you bound me in will break.
And I'll make my esca-a-ape.
I'll make my escape.
And I won't be ashamed of any tear that bears my name,
I've shed so many of my own named after you.
It's your time to lo-oo-ose.
It's your time to lose.
I've got my feet under me now.
I'd run, but I don't know where...or how.
Left so many times,
But they were always on my mind
Though, each time I'd tell my self I'd see it though.
Still waking up to you-oo-oo.
Keep waking up to you-oo-oo.
Still waking up to you-oo-oo.

I just thought I'd share an amazing dance (and song) about struggling with a partner's addiction:
Medicine - a Dance Film
https://vimeo.com/142024986
They did such a great job portraying the hurt and anger, concern and longing. And the symbolism of putting her into the same white jacket as him when she desperately throws herself at him...

Driving home one day back in October, this song was on my CD player. Broke down crying listening to the words, made me realize that I had to change my life or I was going down --
I was slipping through the cracks
Of a stolen jewel
I was tightrope
Walking in two ton shoes
Now somebody is talking about a
Third world war
And the police said this was normal control
And the candle was burning yesterday
Like somebody's best friend died
And I've been caught in a mind riot
I was crying from my eye teeth and
Bleeding from my soul
And I sharpened my wits on a dead man's skull
I built an elevator from his bones
Had to climb to the top floor just
To stamp out the coals
And the candle was burning yesterday
Like somebody's best friend died
And I've been caught in a mind riot
I'm tied within
I'm luck's last match struck
In the pouring down wind
Luck's last match, baby.
I was slipping through the cracks
Of a stolen jewel
I was tightrope
Walking in two ton shoes
Now somebody is talking about a
Third world war
And the police said this was normal control
And the candle was burning yesterday
Like somebody's best friend died
And I've been caught in a mind riot

I'm luck's last match struck
In the pouring down wind
Luck's last match, baby.
I know this song was mentioned earlier in the thread but this version has been on repeat for me for the past few months.

I don't know how to post the links but some of the songs on my latest playlist:
Burning House - cam
Promises - Randy Travis
Wanted You More - Lady Antebellum
Good in Goodbye - Carrie Underwood
Angry All the Time - Tim McGraw
Same Old You - Miranda Lambert
Sometimes I Wish - Gordon Lightfoot
In A Song - Hunter Hayes
Wasted Time - Eagles
Glass - Thompson Square
Changed - Rascal Flatts
Somebody's Chelsea - Reba McEntire
Wrong Again - Martina McBride
Obviously I could go on and on. Being able to hear my story/feelings being told through music has been very therapeutic for me. It's nice to know I'm not alone in all this but also saddens me that so many others have felt this way as well.

Charles Bradley's rendition of Changes is heart-breakingly beautiful:
https://youtu.be/xi49yirJiEA
I feel unhappy
I feel so sad
I lost the best friend
That I ever had
She was my woman
I loved her so
But it痴 too late now
I致e let her go
I知 going through changes
I知 going through changes
We shared the years
We shared each day
In love together
We found a way
But soon the world
Had its evil way
My heart was blinded
Love went astray
I知 going through changes
I知 going through Changes
It took so long
To realize
That I can still hear
Her last goodbyes
Now all my days
Are filled with tears
Wish I could go back
And change these years
I知 going through changes
I知 going through changes
(BTW, an interview with Charles Bradley ran this morning (05/02/16) on NPR.)

I just found this group and am in love with this song, Ukiuq by the Jerry Cans. They sing in Inukitut, which isn't my heritage, but there are similarities. Ukiuq in Inukitut means "winter"; in Inupiatun (my heritage) it means "year." (I don't speak it, but I'm trying to learn.)
https://youtu.be/5neft4S0nr0
The English translation for the lyrics which they post is:
"When you find yourself traveling in the Arctic
While the wind blows
Remind them of me
Remind them I used to love them
If you travel through a blizzard
During the time when the river freezes
In the early fall
Make sure to dress warm
Make sure they are warm
I used to love them"
The band includes a throat singer (opening scene). I could go on and on about what I love about it.
