Thought of another song that describes my AXBF:Rocket Man by Elton John. Can't post links from my phone but just felt like sharing. Feeling sad that I can't help him. I think I stayed so long because I hoped to show him that there was so much more in life like the simple pleasures he could never seem to enjoy with me. Watching a movie, going for a walk, going fishing or whatever. Finally letting him live his life while getting on with mine.Rocket man burning out his fuse out here alone...

Rage Against the Machine - Bulls on Parade
Seether - Fine Again
Maroon 5 - This Love
Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry
Alex Clare - Too Close
Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On
Eminem - the entire Recovery album
Guns & Roses - Used to Love Her (him)
Jane's Addiction - Jane Says
Incubus - Drive
Janis Joplin - A Woman Left Lonely, Cry Baby, Move Over
Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent
Jesus Jones - Are you Satisfied
Temple of the Dog - Pushin Forward Back, Reach Down
Stereomud - Steppin Away
UPO - Godless

to name a few.....
Oh, "Not The Doctor"! Love that song!

Hadn't heard it in a long time, and was in the car with my husband. He had found an old playlist and it was that album. He put it in and I chuckled and said,"Really?" Had to laugh at the irony of my alcoholic husband listening to that album LOL.

I was surprised how many lyrics I still remembered, and started remembering the other songs on the album . So I promptly selected "Not The Doctor" lol.

Discussing this thread with DD this afternoon, she dug up the CD I made for her a couple of years ago with all female artists, labeled "Girl Power", lol. We listened & it reminded me about:

Sheryl Crowe - Everyday is a Winding Road
Sheryl Crow - Everyday Is A Winding Road - YouTube

Natalie Imbrulia - Torn
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn - YouTube

KT Turnstall - Black Horse & Cherry Tree (love this video mash up with 7 Nation Army)
KT Tunstall - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree + Seven Nation Army - YouTube

Maybe not so much recovery related, but I also adore Three Doors Down:

Duck & Run 3 Doors Down- Duck and Run lyrics HD - YouTube
Better Life (more from the A perspective I think) 3 Doors Down - Better Life Lyrics - YouTube
Life of My Own 3 Doors Down Life Of My Own Lyrics - YouTube

I will never fall OUT of love with Chris Cornell - RAH & I saw him do an acoustic performance at a local college, front row balcony & it was the absolute, hands down, single best concert of my life. I still get gooseflesh thinking about it. When he broke into covers of MJ's "Billie Jean" and followed it up with Zeppelin's "Thank You" I was blown a.w.a.y. even though I'd heard both recordings before.

Seasons is my fave of his - "Seasons" by Chris Cornell - YouTube

A full performance: Chris Cornell - Unplugged In Sweden (Full Album) - YouTube

Three Days Grace - I Hate Everything About You (Lyrics) - YouTube

THREE DAYS GRACE LYRICS
"I Hate Everything About You"

Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven't missed you yet

Every roommate kept awake
By every sigh and scream we make
All the feelings that I get
But I still don't miss you yet

Only when I stop to think about it

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?

Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven't missed you yet

Only when I stop to think about it

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?

Only when I stop to think about you,
I know
Only when you stop to think about me,
do you know?

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
You hate everything about me
Why do you love me?

I hate
You hate
I hate
You love me

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?

Say Something by A Great Big World
Cocoon by Jack Johnson

Say Something is exactly how I feel in this moment in time. That song MUST have been written for an addict. I love Jack Johnson, and I think the majority of his songs are love songs to his wife, except for this one. Why couldn't I have married him?!

Oh dear - I am really showing my age! I am in the Uk so don't regcognize quite a few of the songs but will look them up..... For me it would be ALWAYS
Gloria Gaynor I WILL SURVIVE - from the early eighties I know but relevant and
Its my Turn by Diana Ross - again from the early eighties.

I just thought of another great song that I can relate to and would listen to often when dealing with XAB: "Scars" by Papa Roach. Can't post link from phone but wanted to share for those who may want to listen to it!

I am a) late to the game on this, and b) incapable of linking to anything on my ancient and fussy first gen iPad, but my song of comfort of late is Tom Petty's "Square One" from his Highway Companion album. Love, love, love him. And he's been around the recovery block a bit himself.

We listened to a lot of music over the weekend & I thought of this thread a few times.

For all of you who like heavier rock, I really dig Taproot's "Poem"

Taproot - Poem (Video) Album/Precision Version Audio - YouTube
"Poem"

overbearing panic attack entrenching my veins
in an hour i'll be ok
i pray this pain will go away permanently someday
I'VE seen more than...
I should have to...
I'VE seen this on my own

this song is a,
poem to myself,
it helps me to live...

in case of fire,
BREAK the glass,
and move on into your own...

reoccurring drowning effect entrenching my brain,
i hope you'll be ok someday,
so i can say that you moved on in the right way...

WE'VE seen this and
WE'VE breathed this and
WE'VE lived this on our own...

this song is a,
poem to myself,
it helps me to live...
in case of fire,
BREAK the glass,
and move on into your own...
your own...

BREAK...

this song is a,
poem to myself,
it helps me to live...
in case of fire,
BREAK the glass,
and move on into your own...
