Taking out a subscription...
Ten years on into recovery and now enjoying a prolonged and hopefully lasting, a day at a time, period of sobriety. After enduring my own 'alcohell' for more years than I care to remember. It often occurs to me that if I wasn't a recovering alcoholic,I'd take out a subscription, not for the alcohol, but from the sheer enjoyment of having a spiritual experience or education and the opportunity of sharing my experience, strength and hope of offering to others who face what I experienced in a manner, unconditionally.
So that was once offered so freely offered to me is returned to them...for me that's the real, lasting and ongoing benefit of recovery.
In helping others, we help ourselves.
