One Thing to say?

If I had only one thing to say to the still suffering addict/alcholic/family member:

You are not alone...I(we) understand and can help.

Any other thoughts?

You don't have to continue; you can stop for good, deep down inside you know you're strong enough to get and stay sober.

Not sure why this didn't make much a thread....

For all of you: You are not alone...break the isolation and loneliness that addiction and alcoholism breeds...call someone...get to a meeting....there is no shame...you are loved...I promise you...

This is not the busiest forum wisc.
threads here tend to be slower growers.

Don't sweat it

for me the one sentence would be - keep going - it may not seem like it now, but it gets better - way better

I would say that when you get through the tangle of reasons, triggers, relapses, complications that make up life in the using zone, that whole-person you become and the well-being that comes with it is like reaching a unique wonderland of maturity. You have to be there to believe it.It is good.

I'd say " you never have to drink again, you never have to feel like tis again either.". And then I'd tell him/her how I did it.
