Hello again Zen guy
I am glad to hear you’ve wrote things down in managageable chunks.
So now you have a list of your problems with your plan to fix them?
I think many members and myself will contribute to help you with each problem.
I think what you believe is harming you the most is the best starting point.
im willing to give my best educated answer if your willing to share.

BTW glad to hear you want to jump back on the wagon. I don’t think most people here can say they’ve not fallen off.

In AA they tell you you will be a “recovering alcoholic” basically forever. In my opinion that is depressing. Like somebody trying to get better and putting a road block in front.

it wasn’t until I went to a CA meeting (cocane anamous).
It was in that meeting they declared you can be fixed. Not like a label for the rest of your life. It gave hope where there wasn’t otherwise.
Simple. Don’t take drugs and you are fixed.

i dont mean to get off topic but i would really like to know:

" That changed everything for myself. The thought that you are actually fixed at this moment. "

^^Did you honestly believe this or was this some type of brain trick you used to create the illusion you are actually fixed ? In other words,
will it work if your a negative thinker because when i TRY to tell my self this i always go back to "Who am i kidding? im one year clean and STILL DONT feel 'fixed'...whats the point of sobriety"? It scares the crap out of me.

I don't view myself as having been fixed at some point in my recovery.

It's still, by far, the most important thing I work on every day.

I have asked God for help and He has given me AA as his instrument.

I view alcoholism as a disease and AA as a technique (the only one which has ever worked for me I might add) of mitigating its symptoms.

I respect the opinions of others who think differently, including those who are still struggling with addictions and I wish them well.

I have been there and have the tee-shirt, so to speak.

Like some of you, I don't like the notion of being sick forever, but I have accepted that prospect ever since I got sober.

For me, God and AA have worked to free me of my chronic, acute alcoholism on a daily basis now for over 30 years.

To all of you who are still suffering and wondering what to do about the consequences of addiction, I strongly suggest that you be extremely open-minded.

You may find the answer to be at your fingertips.
