sleep is a luxury for sure! People who have no problems falling sleep, don't realize who grand they have it...

I'm still only getting about 5 hours a night.

sorry man. I'm taking Melatonin right now, but it does no good when you wake up in the middle of the night.. it helps to get you started, if you're like me where you atleast wake up once during the night, no relief going BACK to sleep.

Not all doctors are brilliant, Jazz.
If this one isn't satisfactory to you, can you find another one?

jazz,

Great news! One of my doctors told me the same thing: "Sleep is a luxury." It made me very mad. Since then, I've learned to use meditation tapes to help me sleep. They do work but it's important to keep to a regular sleep schedule. Get up at the same time every day, avoid caffeine in the afternoon, keep your bedroom quiet, cool and dark.

Good luck!

Love,

Lenina

((Jazzman)) - there are good and bad doctors, just like there are "good" and "bad" in every profession, sad to say. That's why I made sure my dr. knew of my addiction history and, had I not been an RN before my addiction ruined that career, I'd have done research on any medication he prescribed.

Sleep is NOT a luxury to me...lack of it causes me depression and I get physically sick with continued insomnia. Everyone's different, and a good dr. should listen to you and work with you when you have a valid complaint.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

I new zopiclon was addictive when the docter suggested them .and dident want to take enything addictive .and told him that. he has all my history.
but he said it might help me get my sleep pattern back and if i sleeped ok dont take the othere ones till i realy needed them.
for a long time now since stoping methadone the only thing thats slowing me down is not getting proper sleep some times i do somtimes i dont .

I feal like i have cheeted slightly by taking sleepers but my way wasent working.
insomnia can realy get you down.when your already down.

Jazz it sounds you did the right thing, even though it's going against the way you feel about meds that you CAN become dependent on.

If it's helping you sleep, then you're getting physical and emotional rest, and that is key to living a normal life.

Good to see you in here today! There hasn't been alot going on in here in the past couple days....*lonely* lol
