...because I seem to have ridden out of the cynical little snit I fell into over the past few weeks, and being alive feels glorious this morning.

... because not doing drugs has allowed me to have decent sleep and a clear mind, and it has lead to a sizable (and non-taxable!) bonus for next month. And as an added benefit I'm not going to spend it on drugs so I'll really get to enjoy it.

... because staying in this mindset, "I was a loser," can be kinda harmful, I think. It keeps your own opinion of yourself low, just like alcohol or drugs keeps your self-regard low.
Calling yourself a loser for making mistakes or doing things you shouldn't have or, if you prefer, having a disease, is not helpful. It cuts down what you accomplish by staying sober.
Now if I can just follow my own advice...
