Here I go again

Well I was on here years ago and never thought I’d be back in this place. I was in a horrible car accident on May 6 and broke my pelvis in 4 places after a woman ran a stop light and slammed into me.

I was in the hospital 20 days. Anyway I was on opiates and did really good in the beginning after I got home and kept a diary and wrote down the times. Etc well I did end up addicted and today today is day one.

I am dreading the detox I’ll be feeling soon. Today I’ve had some hot and cold sweats. My hubby wanted me to go to his moms with him and I pushed it off till tomorrow and I’ll probably be worse off tomorrow. Ugh

Welcome back, Sheila. I don't know much of anything about opioid addiction, but could a doctor help you ween off of them over time? I know Gabapentin isn't an opioid, but it can be dangerous to just stop taking them cold turkey. My Neurologist helped me ween off of them over about a six week period. I was just wondering if that was something you might consider?

Sheila, Welcome back. I'm sorry about the terrible car accident. I hope your detox isn't too prolonged or difficult. Are you going cold turkey?

It's good to have you with us, Sheila.
Being here made all the difference to me when I had to put an end to my alcohol dependency. People here understand what we're going through, unlike others in our life. You can speak freely among friends who want to support & encourage you.
It's going to feel so good to be free of the poison once again. You can do it.

yes I am Anna. But in reality this is the second time I am detoxing and this time was only for 2 weeks. But I know that I know that I just can’t use safely, plus I don’t need it anymore.

Happy to say..

I now have 22 days clean and sober and I am working with my sponsor again! Whoohoo! No shame in my game, upward and onward. So nice to be out of the guilt and shame cycle now. I also told my hubby and he was the best, and my pills are fine and out of the house.

Shelia, that is fantastic news! I know that withdrawal can be tough, but you went through it like a champ. I just went through withdrawals and may still be having some from some medicine I was on for my back. For a good two weeks I was really sick coming off of them, but I did it too, although still feeling a little weird sometimes.
I am so happy for you! Congratulations and keep up the good work. I know you can do this. I have a bad back, really bad and I'm just going to have to find another way to deal with it.
So happy you're back!
