24 Hour No Nicotine/No Smoking Club - Part 9
Thanks, buk1000--I feel like I'm still in the hard part, lol.
For the past couple of days, I don't know whether I've experiencing cravings as much as nostalgia or sadness that I am letting go of a coping mechanism that I've used for all of my adult life. I feel scared but very hopeful and am keeping in mind that if I can just get through the jungle of now then there will come a day when I don't even think about smoking anymore.
I'll be two years sober next month and I can remember so clearly counting the days before I got to double digits...I remember posting when I got to day 6 of no drinking that it was the longest I had gone without alcohol in twenty years. I couldn't see then how worth it it would be. I'm there now with cigarettes--trying to get some space from it...desperately wanting to be a nonsmoker and yet feeling the pull of the darkness that is cigarettes. I have to keep reminding myself that I never thought I could be a nondrinker, but I am and life is so much better.
Thank you for the encouragement

i had been quit for over a year and a half, and then last week, i smoked when in a really emotional place. since then, I have smoked four packs. i smoked my last cigarette from pack #4 yesterday afternoon. have made it 24 hours now without a smoke. i can't believe how easy it is to go from 0-100, but here we go. Day 1.5 no smoking. cravings are strong.

So true Veedon! I was quit for several years and all it took was that one cigarette and I was off to the races again! Ugh!
Gilmer you can do this. It's okay! We've all been there done that. But you know what to do....right? Get back up...dust yourself off! We are here with you. And NO!!! You are NOT a failure!!! Keep your mind focused on the positives! Rootin for you!
Okay...just wanted to check in and let you all know I'm at 6 months nicotine-free! And boy do I feel good! I can breath easier! Food tastes delicious again! I go days without a craving. I feel confident that I don't stink. Ha! I mean there are just too many pluses to not smoking that I can't list them all here. But I'm loving being a non-smoker!

Welcome Veedon!
Congrats Clean!
Just passed 4 weeks on Thursday, feeling good. Crazy smoking dreams last night but I've been expecting them.
