It's Day 10 and I am still sober!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still sober and hoping to stay that way! Everytime I plot possibly having a drink I walk myself through the whole process from beginning to end. By the time I get to that point I don't want to drink anymore since I realise how not worth it it really is. I think the reason why I am having an easier time getting sober this time as I have finally realised and accepted that I am an alcohlic. I never wanted to admit that in the past. It was always this deep dark top secret that no one could know. Now I realise it is actually taking care of myself by admiting to that. It doesn't define who I am spiritually it is a disease that I can't change so I might as well accept it. The sooner I do, the better my life will be. I am trying to create new habits around the time of the day I used to want to drink. I go swimming now and it gets my mind off of it. Whatever works as they say! Anyhow best wishes to everyone and I hope for the best for all of you.

Way to go. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders if you already are able to talk yourself through like that. You will succeed if you keep that up.

CONGRATS on your newfound sobriety! Your share shows you're smart and determined. I, too, couldn't become a sober, recovering alcoholic until I became (admitted I was) a sick, practicing alcoholic. And, like you, I had to find something completely different to do around the time I usually drank. For me it was meetings at first; I wasn't athletically inclined.

I've been sober over 17 years. Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together.

Woo-hoo! Congratulations!

Whenever I want a drink I think about how sick it makes me. That seems to help kill the cravings, and I figure if I do it enough my animal brain will finally learn to associate alcohol with being horribly sick and the cravings might eventually stop all together!

Well done and congrats, keep busy and focus on how much better you feel - I'm trying to. Great news! Identify with what you say about finally accepting that you have no control over drink, I feel this way too and feel confident that I will make it. YOU WILL MAKE IT!!

Talking

GOOD FOR YOU!!!
I am new to this recovery thing myself, I am on night 3 and feeling good yet bad at the same time. I see your 10 days and think to myself that I too will be there soon, we just do it one day at a time.
Wonderful Work! Keep it UP!
