Rommel, please try not to get caught up in the worthless trap. You are not worthless. You had a slip. You had 38 days prior to that, remember that and use that to dust yourself off and get back up there and keep trying. I echo what everyone else has said. You only fail when you quit trying. Beating yourself to death is of no use and could cause you to relapse further. Look upon this as a learning experience and that you cannot relax your vigilance nor can you take sobriety for granted.
As for the wife, of course she's mad! Best thing you can do is to get back up and start over. If she sees you continue trying chances are she'll come around and support you but bottom line is you have to do this for you!
A sponsor is someone who has worked the 12 steps, has some sobriety under their belts (preferably years) and who lead you through the 12 steps. They are someone who comes to know you very intimately, someone who you talk to about what's going on and how you are feeling about things. Once they know you, they are able to see past your words and see if other things might be going on that could be pitfalls in your recovery. They cannot keep you sober but if you utilize them you can learn a lot from them and they can help you learn to live life on life's terms without the need for booze or drugs.
Hugs,
Kellye
