From talking to addictionologists, I've heard it is meth. The statistics for it are very sad. The recovery rate for other addictions is much higher.
I'm an alcoholic and an opiate addict. These days you could put a drink in front of me and it wouldn't even phase me. I can play that tape through very easily but I can't even hear the rattle of a bottle of pills (I keep a tissue stuffed in my allergy and other meds to avoid that rattle) without being triggered.
Oh, and back before my time in the Coast Guard I smoked my share of pot. Not even interested.
