Hi folks

Hi there. Just a new user joining the group. I have been reading the posts and think I found the right place I have been looking for. I'm grappling schizophrenic disorder (not taking meds) with alcohol and cocaine abuse and looking for a new path in life. I applaude the openness, sincerity, and love expressed by this forums members. I dream of a sober life and so look forward to being a part of this online community and making the change. Trying for sober day 1 tomorrow.

It works if you work it! Keep reading posts and posting. There is lots of good stuff to be found here! I am so glad that you found us. We will be here for you while you go through day 1 and then for every day after that.

Wrote a poem/song/something last weekend on a particularly distressfull binge. About the time I ws thinking something had to change. I just wanted to share it. It's the feeling you might have when you just wish the day would end and you can go to sleep and try to start a new one fresh, in hopes for something better. so, here goes ...

Let me start over, let me begin ... again.
Carry me off my friend.
When I drank too much, when I bleed inside.
Carry me off my friend.
When I have thought too hard, when I've cried aloud.
Carry me off my friend.
When I have done to little, or maybe too much.
Carry me off my friend.
When my muscles ache, when my heart breaks.
Carry me off my friend.
I'm tired, I'm bored, happiness ignored.
Carry me off my friend.
When I want to erase yesterday, avoid memories.
Carry me off my friend.
Turn pain into promise, past into potential.
Carry me off my friend.
Carry me into darkness, to see a new light.
Carry me off my friend.

Those words you wrote stuck meaning with me. I know the feelings all too well.

thanks so much gang, so happy to have found this place - really! btw - the writing was in hopes someone could identify, not for self pity, done enough of that. Happy AngelHugs could relate in some manner. Looking forward ....
