Remember how you feel right now the next time you want to use. Remember how bad you feel. Remember that whatever high you feel, wont last very long and then you will feel like this again.
Hang in there. You can do it.

I can never give up
Hi everyone. I know to everyone it must look like I will never get there. But, I'll get there and I know it because I'm not going to give up.
I guess I was looking for an easy way to feel good, but it only looped back into a lot of pain. The short term high is not worth the long term horrible feelings. Using simply offers us nothing but a life of misery.
Yes, I have learned the hard way. BUT, if my experience has helped at least one person decide not to use today, then it is a lesson well-learned and shared.
My experience might just be that one thing that helps someone stay clean one day.

Hi Hope,
Your determination to get sober shows you have a lot of strength. Just keep trying and you will make it. The pain this disease causes really sucks, but it also can be the thing that gets us to quit start on the journey of sobriety. I sure know first hand because I suffered for years.
You can do this Hope!
Daniel.

I'm glad that I am here with such wonderful people.
I can do this-- just have to keep trying harder..and I am trying to learn how to live life on life's terms. That isn't easy but it is done by others, so I know that it is possible.

hope i'm sorry your having such a rough time. just think of it this way... to get past the cravings this is what i use. when one hits... i think about how bad it used to be... i i know this is bad but i have a glass of sugar water... i know drinking its the sugar our body craves at least with me it worked. as for easing the pain.. the longer you go without a drink/use the easier it gets and the better you feel. when you have an urge just tell yourself that over and over again. i hope i helped you out a bit. lots of love and sober thoughts coming your way!!!
hope don't give up, it does get easier; today is day 7 for me and it is the first time i have cravings, had a stressful evening, i am planning a meeting tonight to boost me rather than drinking; you can do this; don't give up and don't give in;
(((Hope)))
one day at a time
easy does it
you're worth the fight!!!!
have you gone to meeting?
every minute of today that you don't give in to the urge you win the battle, minutes turn into hours that make up the days.
peace and luv, don't beat yourself up.

TYhanks for posting this...
You've got me thinking -
I'd rather see you NOT DIE gaining experience sufficient to keep me cleantoday...You are nobel, indeed, offering your suffering to us all, as an example... But are you happy being a BAD example, sweetie?
I've heard people say "WE dont shoot our wounded here in AA/NA..." And heard the same people say something like "better you then me..." or "go ahead and use, so I dont have too..." and "keep coming back" There are plenty of MARTYRS coming through the revolving doors... And perhaps even more people to encourage them to keep using, and come back and tell us about it...
Please keep coming back here - no doubt your struggle is valuable to many people working a program of recovery. Sincerely, it is. Can I suggest something? That you worry less about carrying the message at this point in your recovery...and focus yourself on the first step again? Do it for you, not us... The 12 steps are in the order they are in FOR A REASON...
