Trazodone

Hi everyone,

I need some advice here. I'm currently on day 28, and haven't been sleeping properly for a while. My doctor has prescribed me trazodone, but I'm too afraid to even fill the prescription, without knowing more about it. Thought I'd come here and ask first. I am scared of anything that might make me dependent.

I would love to be able to have a good night's sleep, but I don't want to risk my sobriety.

I have asked my AA sponsor, and she told me that I should be careful of taking any chemicals so new into sobriety. Because of that I haven't filled the prescription.

Thanks, and hugs, feels soooo good to have made it this far, though I really could use a good night's sleep!

Red face Hey Lindsay..

I took trazadone for some months into my recovery,I had a doctor who specialized in addiction and he assured me it was not addicting.I very rarely haveto take it for sleep anymore but it was a G*d send when I needed it.I am not a Doctor so I probably shouldnt be giving you advice about medicine, but I wanted you to know I am alittle over a year sober now and did take trazadone everynite for awhile.Bless,Trish

Here's the first page of a Google search. There are plenty of sites to check this out and check the warnings, etc.

As I understand it, it's a mild anti-depressant with sleep inducing qualities.
I was on it for a few months. I didn't have a problem with it, as far as becoming dependant on it.
Get medical opinions, from qualified people as well Lindsey.
And congratulations for the sober time!

Thank you all for your replies. I shall fill this prescription and see if it helps me to sleep.

God bless you all for your E S & H, and words of wisdom!
