What are you most grateful for today?

It's day 1,184 without a drop of alcohol. Today I'm counting blessings... and I'm thankful for our new pup. She's a sweetheart chocolate lab (brand new) and has brought a lot of joy to the kids and family (as well as some healthy young-family chaos).

I try to do a lot of daily mental gratitude journaling. I'd love to hear others .

This weekend:
Sleeping in, Rachmaninov, chile rellenos, my youngest son’s constellation of freckles, clean laundry, Radiolab, basset hound ears, my husband’s aftershave, my bike, fresh flowers

That I was able to procure a copy of JD Salinger’s “Catcher in the Rye” for my granddaughter’s birthday without having to travel miles to a real bookshop.

The young woman serving was tattooed punk type which made me even more grateful.

She smiled tenderly at my purchase.

I needed this attitude adjustment right now - thanks Evoo 🙂
I’m grateful to see another day dawning and knowing it will be a sober one.

congrats on your sober time too, Evoo!

Steely - I loved that book - could relate to Holden when I first read it.

Evoo - I'm so happy you're doing great. A chocolate lab - what a joy.

As for me, I'm just happy I will no longer sabotage my life by taking that first sip. Chaos would ensue.

Perfect question for my frame of mind of late. I took my six month old puppy, Frank, for a walk up a nearby hill. He behaved perfectly off the lead. We got to the top and found a sheltered place to sit. We both looked out over the view and I let myself be present in that moment.

Oh man that book really meant a lot to me when I was 15.

Dear Hevyn, and Freedom, the book meant a lot to me, too.

I loved Holden. Always looking out for the “phonies”.

I read somewhere that Salinger stipulated in his will, I think, that it should never be made into a film. Good move, I think.

Long live Holden, in our hearts.

I am grateful that my Monday starts on Sunday night. Tomorrow morning when most are just getting started on their week my Monday at work will be over and I will be at home relaxing with the dogs and getting ready to go to bed.

This might not be my biggest gratitude of the day but it is my gratitude of the moment. My bed is under a window and I can open it while in bed. I love the cool air that pours in when I open it. I was doing just this when I saw this thread.

I'm grateful I slept from 4am to 6am. Thought I'd be up all night after sleeping from 4 to 11pm. Grateful I haven't drank water in the last three hours and I'll have rid of it by my psychiatrist appt. Not a good time for me to be sectioned.

I often forget and take it for granted, but waking up sober is so much better then being hungover.

I'm grateful for a safe home to live in that keeps my family out of the cold.

I'm thankful that no one gets any stupid text messages from me anymore. Oh and I no longer come to on Monday mornings sick and still drunk. I love being sober.

While it is still chilly here, I am grateful that I see the promise of spring peeking around the corner.

I'm grateful my bloods came back normal yesterday and I'm not off to pyjamas prison yet again.

Grateful for food and shelter. Well, shelter anyway lol. I'll be more grateful for food when I get rid of this belly.

Grateful my friend splashed out on this great and not cheap Linear Algebra book for me, and that he still wants to spend time with me and I could buy him breakfast last Friday
