Thank you RAL and Hevyn for your great suggestions.
Yes SoberLeigh I'm thinking of joining the February class.
Dee is how I feel, I'm capable of going months without drinking but one day I decide to drink knowing that I'm going to have the same or more problems as before but I do it anyway, it's crazy.
Good night everyone, it's already night here in Europe.
Love to all.

I love this! Seems to me it's actually this simple. Not easy though!
You don't have to lose the battle. You can give it up. You don't have to feel like this ever again.
Find a way to avoid the first drink no matter what.

and anyway in the end things were actually different, over time - it got worse.
I lost jobs, I lost friends, I lost money, I lost my good health....
I ended up nearly dying.
The great thing about SR is it shows you, me, and everyone else that you don't have to fall as far as I did.
You can get off at any floor

Hi VZ, lovely to see you post and your English is very good !
I think you know you’re at a tipping point and things are escalating & maybe you’re even feeling a little scared.
When we get to the blackout stage,we know things are going downhill.
You seem to be pretty aware of what’s happening and you know it’s time to get sober once and for all. Trust me …if I can do it anyone can. It’s a year and 3 months for me.
Youre going to feel like a brand new you once you put the bottle down for good.
We can only go on so long over time before it starts affecting our health.
Try not to let that happen as prevention is better than cure .
Once again, great to see you post , 😀 xxxxx

Welcome to posting, V. It will help to sort out your thoughts, I know it did mine. Being a part of a class was also the turning point for me, and I tried lots of times to succeed. With the help of this site, added to the support of a small group of people on the same path as I was, it was easier when the hard times came along. Make sure you reach out and ask for help BEFORE you reach for a drink, pay attention to all the good advice and share your experiences. Helping others helps you, too. You can do this- congrats on day one, it can be your last time saying that!
Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude

Hi V
1 year and 5 months for me because all the people here at SR helped me get and stay sober.
Urges to drink can be stopped before you go and drink. When thoughts about drinking are strong change what you are doing. Move to another room, pick up a phone and call a sober friend, post here, and cook something. The point is to move your body and your mind to do something that will distract you away from the urge.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to get back to me, I get so much support and wisdom from all of you.
Five Tries: This is the key, avoid the first drink no matter what. When you take the first one, it's like someone else takes your place and you can't stop.
Dee: I go back to drinking looking for the happiness it gave me at the beginning even though I know for sure it's not in the bottle anymore but I keep trying and as you say things get much worse, I haven't lost my job or friends but I have lost my health, if I continue like this I am going to have big problems with my health. Time to stop for ever.
SnoozyQ: Blackout episodes are terrifying, I don't remember anything I've done, this summer I injured my ribs in one of those blackouts and I don't know how I did it.
VikingGF, Zencat, Mags1, Thank you for your suggestions, I will take them into account for sure.
Well, today is day 2 and I don't have any desire to drink.
Hope everybody has a great day.

Trachemys you are right, if I say no I should not drink I continue to leave the door open so that in a moment of difficulty or stress I can drink again.
If I say I don't drink my brain (AV) get the whole idea that he is not going to get away with it.
Thanks for the remark.

I do think of it as being another person. If I were to have any alcohol at all I would become someone else. A person that isn't gonna stop drinking until drunk. Knowing that 100% is very powerful for me. My mind likes to try to play games and tell me I didn't get drunk every time, but as I've stayed sober longer, the reality of my history with it has become more clear.
Day 2 is great! Since you have no desire to drink, now is the time to plan for the day or moment when that desire to drink decides to come back. Things have been much easier for me when I've already decided how I'm gonna respond.
