It begins

Well knew it wouldn’t be long once I started to feel better craving would start. First thing I’ve done has been to go for a long walk.

The second thing is to post on here to remind me I don’t want to be that person anymore.

It’s passed early days .

keep going we can do this 🙏

I know that feeling very well when the av creeps in. Keep focused and do whatever it takes...come here, run that tape forward, participate in a hobby..

Arming yourself / ourselves, before, during and after
addiction and in recovery, helps us achieve success
in sobriety.

Use as many recovery tools and services to your
advantage each and every day and in all your daily
affairs so that you are never alone.

There is no shame in asking for help. It is in not
reaching out for help that folks stay stuck in their
own addictions.

Be strong, determined and never give up.

What are some elements in your recovery plan? I found I had to actively add in activities, hobbies, distractions because drinking really took up a lot of my time before I quit.

I also needed to work on letting out in a healthy way the negative feelings I used to suppress and numb with alcohol. Journaling, exercise, and a short course of therapy really helped.

I found stopping drinking was only the first step of recovery, but the recovery has become a wonderful journey of self-exploration—but you need a plan to get there

You can do it Swordfish!

Try to remember, Swordfish, that the AV is THE consummate liar; believe nothing that it says and kick it to the curb.

Long walks are a great tool for your toolbox. Well done.

Onward together.
