5 years today
Just stopping in to say thank you again to this forum. So grateful for the help and wisdom I found here. I quit on my own, with the support and the collective experience here. Five years of better living in every way — physically, emotionally, psychologically. Present for those I love. Healthy. Rested. Relieved! Everything is better in every way.
It truly does get to the point where alcohol loses its power, and the addiction monster demanding your attention, health, time, money, body and soul withers and slinks away. Its agency is an illusion. No way is drinking a liquid worth the damage it does to you and your life. Don’t believe the lie that you need it!
If you are thinking you can’t give it up, you can. I had many, many false starts. Just keep trying.
I’m not as smart about all this as everyone else here — but if I hope my experience can encourage someone to keep believing and just take the steps to change, minute by minute, day by day.
Hang in there!
P.S. Moderators, I mistakenly posted this in the Daily Threads first -- I apologize! I can't figure out how to delete it there.

Hi tealily, I remember you and am so happy that you are celebrating your 5 year anniversary. I just went back and reread some of your early threads on here from May 2017. You were so very open and honest about your feelings, and your determination to succeed was evident. Thanks so much for checking in and I hope that life continues to get better and better for you. Hugs.
I too, just read most of your posts, and your original post to about three years out.
And the love and support of the replies from members today are many of the same whose words of wisdom and encouragement back then.
much love!
