The protagonist knows he's gonna go through hell getting dry, knows he's not gonna sleep, but he gets a job anyway. A bouncer job in a bar no less. But still, he knows that he's not gonna drink, 'cause he's on a damn mission and he's goddamn cool.

I read his other book 'A Million Little Pieces' which was his own story of addiction. Then it turns out it he fabricated and embellished a lot of things haha. Still a good read though.

Yeah this was also a memoir come to think of it. Like you say, both good reads even if there were embellishments. I mean the man is still sober today and has been since the '90s so that's probably the main thing.

If you can do just that, convince yourself you won’t drink, then the rest is easier and less important. A lot of the other tools are for either when we can’t convince ourselves, or to remind us we have convinced ourselves.

Ride on that thought and you can do this!
