Need words of encouragement

Hello! Once again, I am on day one. I really want to put alcohol behind me. I would appreciate any words of wisdom and encouragement. Thank you in advance.

Tell about you, besides you have decided to stop. What is happening? Why did you quit quitting, or did you not get there yet? What brought you to SR last year?

Hi Hopeful, I'm glad you're back. It sometimes takes a few tries to get it done. What kinds of things have you tried? I think it's important to have a plan for how to stop drinking and plan for how to stay sober long-term.

As a practicing alcohol many years ago, I didn't have a clue where to start. Is that where you are right now?

Welcome back Hopeful63

Joining this community again and maybe checking out the Class of March support thread is a good start I think?
Post here instead of drinking

I had a million day ones. The struggle is very real when we are in the throws of an addiction. Quitting is hard work but not quitting may be harder. Changing our lives and our road can and will have amazing results. You can change your life. Believe in yourself and the power you hold to change. Never be defeated and never give up. One day at a time.

It only takes ONE last day one!!! You can do it- so many of us have been where you are- I stopped counting how many day ones there were- but when I came to the realization that choosing to change rather than being forced to change (that was coming!) due to health, injury, or God forbid, hurting someone else because of my irresponsible behavior, I chose to do the work and get sober. It was hard, but not as hard as scraping by as an empty shell full of guilt and shame, remorse and helplessness. That is not a life, what I have now is a life. Sobriety is a gift and you deserve it. Never give up and keep trying, it is completely worth all your effort. You can totally do it.
