Yeah the work thing fell down for me because no one can work all the time, and when you stop you rationalise that you deserve/need a drink….

I couldn’t go on that way Disser. Something had to give.

What are you prepared to do to stop - see a Dr, AA or some other group, inpatient or outpatient rehab?

Me too. I had to get out of the corporate rat race before I was able to get more than 30 days sober.

Did you try AA yet? Good luck Disser.

Yes working all those hours can really take a toll on your mind and body. Easier said than done but we must look for healthier way of rewarding ourselves for a long day of hard work. Take some time off but if you can't. Like myself I try to reward myself with a small gift. You said you like weight training maybe some new gear . I just picked up some new training shoes I was smiling walking around my house . My wife was laughing said I look like a little kid filled with joy. Reward yourself with alcohol and get the gift of a hangover and pain. Reward yourself with something healthy.

Hey Disser? How are you doing?

I've felt the same way for a long time. It felt safer to work all the time, but the little time off I had, I had massive binges.

I then got scared of having time off and really frustrated that I couldn't enjoy anything.

I found the only way was to just face it and get through. Try and get into things that aren't about drinking and find a passion. Find something that makes you look forward to being off and being sober.

I hope you are okay x

Disser, I was working a lot too when I was drinking, and just basically too busy. I needed to cut back on work and activities and make sure that I had some quiet time in my life.
