Yes, getting sober is hard but it gets easier the longer you stay sober. 
As to being grateful, I'm grateful for the same things over and over, like a house to live in, my critters' good health, food to eat. And I constantly find new things to be grateful for, it can be anything.

Today, on Day 9, I fought really hard to control my brain & won. Alcohol hijacked my brain over 30 years ago and I want control back.
