7 Years Sober Today !!!!
7 Years Sober Today !!!!
Hello SR Community,
Today I wake up to 7 years sober! I have worked very hard to get here, and lived a wonderful new life in these last 7 years. SR has always been there for me, and instrumental for me getting sober. I work, yes work, a strong program, now and reap the rewards of helping so many people who are where I was 7 years ago today. That was the day that I said "enough is enough". I was sick, shaking, couldn't eat, anxiety and anger were my pervasive thoughts. I had been drinking for a week straight. I knew if I continued I would die. Today, I am so grateful that I chose life. The journey of sobriety is a very interesting one. I have learned more about myself, and this disease which wants to kill me progressively, in this time. I am a grateful alcoholic, just for today.............and what a beautiful day it is!
Thank You SR for all of the help, guidance and support!
Here's to another 7!!!!!

Congratulations! As they say, "Now the work starts"
FWIW, you sound to me like you've got your head on straight -- but I find the following Big Book quote is rarely irrelevant.
It is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action and rest on our laurels. We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle foe. We are not cured of alcoholism. What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.
For me, the requirements for maintaining my spiritual condition are summed up in the circle & triangle of A.A. The three-sided triangle prescribes: (1) Unity [attending meetings], (2) Recovery [working Steps], and (3) Service [working with newcomers]. Only when I am firmly grounded in all three of the foregoing can I be whole -- as represented by the circle wrapped around the three-sided triangle.
Again, congratulations! Thanks for sharing your anniversary with us and letting everyone know that clean & sober is not only possible but worthwhile.

Congrats on 7 years! I've been having such a frustrating time with work lately so I decided to pop in here for few a minutes and yours was the post I looked at it. I really needed to hear this today. I only need to be concerned with what I have control over and thankfully, Sobriety is one of those things. Thank you for posting
I don't know what I'd do without this wonderful site!

That's amazing, Blue Skies.
I'm curious how it must feel. I'm 29 months sober, and whilst life has spiralled into all sorts of unbelievable things I'd never have had the confidence to do whilst drinking, I've probably reached a plateau in terms of wanting a drink. Maybe it's the weather - and I've realised with the football/soccer European championships starting soon, this will be my first ever football tournament sober! - but I still get minor cravings ever now and then. I know full well one drink would be catastrophic, but it'd be nice if these mini cravings faded
