Hi, Newbie here
Hello, I've just found this forum, really need some help to give up alcohol. Been a heavy drinker for 40 years and its finally catching up with me healthwise, I need to do something about it. Hoping to get ideas and inspiration from those who are already on the sober journey so looking forward to having a look around this site.
Welcome, Juzzy!
This is a great place to be for information and support. You should join the May 2021 class - there will be others there who are just beginning their sobriety journeys!

I have been sober almost 6 and a half years, and I give this group a lot of credit for helping me get here. Stick around!

Hi, Juzzy!
We know how you feel. I drank 30 yrs. & in the end I was completely dependent on it. What was once fun & relaxing had become a necessity. When I found SR it was instant relief. I no longer felt alone. You'll find plenty of encouragement & understanding here. Welcome!

Welcome. There are many of us here who have found support after drinking heavily for a long time. There are people here with a lot of experience with early recovery who have helped tremendously. And others also, who are newer to recovery like me, and help me know daily I am not alone. Keep visiting often!
Welcome to SR Juzzy
I was a heavy drinker from around 1986/7 until January this year, when I quit. I had tried and tried many times over to stop, having long since realised I couldn't moderate my drinking. I find SoberRecovery to be an essential part of my sober toolkit and hopefully you will too.

Hi Juzzy. Welcome to SR. This place helped me walk away from a 30-year bender. I have been able to stay sober for 18 months and it has been a tremendous amount of work and attention. We have do to most of it through our own efforts and care. But you don't have to do it alone. I credit this forum and the people here on SR as one of the main reasons I was able to make big changes. I hope you stay here and read around and post often.
Hi Juzzy, I am new too, ( heavy drinker of 30 years) only on day 7 and already I have found the help and support here to have been enormously helpful - well done on making the choice I am sure you will find posts here that will help and inspire you to continue.
