Good morning everyone!
Grateful to be sober and have 18 days in the bank! I have to admit the alcoholic voice is trying to get my attention. Honestly it has a couple times. I start to rationalize,
" oh you can have one drink, one drink won't hurt"
I can't remember the last time I ever just had one drink!
I am looking forward to a sober day today and a sober weekend. I just need to tell the AV to **** off! Sober is better Any day!

Oh, our brains! How it likes to talk and talk and say all kinds of stupid stuff that has no relevance to the day or the mission or really anything that is helpful at times. Its fascinating and also troublesome if we let those thoughts become a reality.

Sadly that’s true. It won’t be just one drink for any of us reading.

It surprises me now, 27 months sober, how little I crave alcohol nowadays, but there are still days/evenings when I do really feel like a drink, and I reckon that’ll be the case for the rest of my days. But as you say, it won’t be just the one, so you’re doing well and well done on 18 days. It’s not an easy time at all and you’ll feel off for a few more weeks yet.

First good job on 18 days. You should be well on your way by now. Your AV will continue to talk to you, but telling it to ****off is a great idea. In fact a few months ago a woman started a thread about how she started entertaining herself by telling her AV, "****off!" and I was surprised at how many of us had gone through that same phase of recovery, myself included. I used to purposely walk down the wine isle of the grocery store, telling the bottles to ****off. It's quite liberating, and you might as well enjoy it, because your AV is going to keep on talking for a while, so you don't have to plan some grand strategy about what clever thing you're going to say to it. Just tell it to ****off!

I agree, and have found it much easier to do that rather than engage in any discussion with my AV. That usually ends badly, lol.

Always better to shut it down immediately and forcefully.

Very grateful to have 18 days sober! It really is a miracle! You have no idea what a miracle it is! I never thought I could quit drinking!

Your AV wants you to fail, don't listen to it! Your addiction wants you to fail, that's what makes this fight so hard. We have to remain diligent.

When my AV starts talking, I just say "That's nice ( in a patronizing tone)".
Just keep listening to your SV (sober voice) and the people on here.
Congrats on 20 days! That is awesome!!!
