Just Finished - 28 Day Celebrity Rehab
Well. That's not strictly true.
I have to admit that there was no pool, no exclusive gym, no one-on-one therapy with a TV personality psychiatrist.
Group sessions have involved my wife, brother & friends rather than a minor member of the extended Kardashian family.
If I'm honest the food has been good - but certainly lacked the attention of a private chef.
I didn't get a private guest suite and instead took care of the kids & had to clean my own kitchen/bathroom.
And there hasn't even been a single sighting of my personal masseuse.
BUT - I have stayed sober for 28 days. This will be my 5th weekend without alcohol. I will ride my bike. Tick off a few items on my honey-do list & spend some time with the Mrs. I'll take my kids to sports & activities and maybe watch a movie with them - if they can stay off electronics & video games long enough.
Its not easy - but I wake up each day knowing that I'm in a better place - because I'm on the day after another day when I didn't drink. The combination of relief, pride, caution & satisfaction is a sensation that is (for me) unique to my sobriety. Its a weird feeling of guarded optimism.
I've have however eaten a lot of cake and ice cream. I know that I'm healthier my resting HR is 40-50 BPM lower than it was 4 weeks ago. My face, eyes, skin have all improved. But geez - the waistline is taking a pounding thanks to the sugar replacements.
I've been checking in to SR every day and reading your posts. They all help.
thank you

Yeah the resting heart rate thing is crazy! Mine got as high as 83 and I'm finally back to 60 (originally it was 56). It blows my mind it could be that high!!!
I'm glad to hear yours has dropped as well , it's so great to feel healthier.

Congratulations on 28 days Sloinge
Not only will your resting heart rate be lower but most likely your blood pressure will be lower too. Sobriety isn't just about enjoying the benefits of waking up without a hangover, it's also about knowing that your physical health is benefitting too.

I think you should ask for a refund. No massage therapy or volcanic mud bath? Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew was a guilty pleasure of mine. Although, quite a few of the celebrities on the show died not long after....
Congratulations on 28 days!
Now, don't take your eye off the ball. Keep focused on your sobriety and use the tools you learned in rehab.
In April of 2010 I did a 3 day medical detox in a treatment facility. Despite my short time there, I got some great support and guidance. That was 11 years ago and I've been sober since. Based upon my experience, I can tell you that your 28 days of sobriety can stretch into weeks, and then months and then years.

Great job Sloinge! You are reaping the benefits already, and they will just get better. I bet your family is glad to have the real you back.
Keep it going, use all your tools when that AV comes after you. Just shut it down.
