Day 1 again.
Ruined it 2 weeks ago by having a pint with dinner in a restaurant and been drinking every day since.
~10 Year alcoholic, aged 34. Daily drinker. Been from normal to carnage to mayhem, then back again.
Anyway, thought I’d keep this as accountability.
It’s 8am here. Healthy meal consumed and heading to the gym. Feeling focused and great.
To everyone struggling: let’s smash it
¡Let’s do this!

Hey Gaz you definitely need your girlfriend and those closest to you on board. Having my husband in my corner is a game changer for me but he knows never to make it “okay” for me to have a drink. Getting my siblings on board has also been a game changer - they know better then to offer me what seems like an innocent drink to them.
I’m 35 so same age as you. I’m not sure how long I’ve been an alcoholic but most definitely longer than 10 years. I would say my drinking became a problem when I was around 21 (or at least that’s when I was able to recognize it was a problem). I’m only on day 104 so still in early sobriety with you but it does get better and easier everyday you are sober. Posting has been very helpful to me.
Looking forward to following your journey.

Gaz - It's just not worth it. It's never going to be fun or relaxing for us. We can't somehow become social drinkers. Once I gave up the idea that I could have the occasional drink, I was able to get free. You'll do it this time.

Thanks for the replies so far, I appreciate them!
Completed the gym workout and now just finishing an hour trail walk. Trying to keep myself as busy as possible!
I’ve reduced my intake over the past few days as I planned to come off it. Hoping to get a good sleep tonight!
Good luck everyone

Well it’s 7pm and I’m in my bed. Managed to remain sober but was having a few cravings and thoughts earlier but never gave in (one of them at the gym during an exercise at 8am).
Normally the first day is my only real craving day and then it doesn’t really cross my mind - hopefully it’s still like that!
I’ve conceded I can’t drink socially. One beer leads to years of daily drinking, as has happened previously.
Tomorrow will be the same schedule as today: gym, hike, SR, study a few things I enjoy.
I hope you all have a great day/evening wherever you may be 🥳

Pick yourself up and keep going forward. Let the gym be your place of peace. The one of many things I like about the gym is that we are all there for the same thing put in the work and better themselves. I do a variety of different activities to keep in shape.

Up at 5am
Healthy breakfast - 2 eggs with spinach, red and yellow pepper, mushrooms, fresh 🌶 and some garlic.
Fee great.
10am gym (checking in here from
the gym)
Heading another trek after this.
I was lying in a mess in my bed a few days ago, getting up at 9pm. If you’re reading this and in a similar position, try and get through that day 1. You’ll feel much better.
Longgggg way to go for me but let’s do this!
Good luck everyone!

The last 2 weeks I was getting up at 9pm, out rotating shops buying four 500ml cans of beer at a time every few hours, probably averaging 16 before bed at 9am and then repeat.
Embarrassed going in to the shame shop then waking up a sheer anxiety ridden mess. Managed to force myself through the first day, it was brutal. Day 3 and I feel fantastic already.
You can do it, just remind yourself you’ll feel
much better in a few days. Well worth it
Good luck pal!
