I am a huge proponent of chop wood, carry water philosophy.

Nice share, thank you.

I like that motto too. I think I've heard it this way as well.

Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.
After enlightenment, the laundry.

Phenomenal post. Thanks!

I keep reminding myself while chopping the wood and carrying the water that spring air smells great, the stillness of the morning is amazing to enjoy, and the little daily habits that I enjoy are fulfilling enough in and of themselves - and that I can cherish them for what they are without feeling a need to chase something else all the time. So yea, chop wood and carry water. And invest in enjoying the little things that are all around us everyday while doing so.

I am learning to hold space for "other" things now. Still chopping wood and carrying water because that is what works. I do notice I feel off balanced if something detours this "structure" I have created. Now that I have recognized that "off balance" I can wade out a little farther into the waters just as long as I remain safe. Not meaning change what I am doing but incorporate a little more freedom into my life. ......We are in a pandemic so there really is only so much "doing."

yes, noticing the blooms. The birds. The sitting and pausing. I enjoy being sober.
