You guys are inspiring to those trying to get at least
one full day sober. Continue to learn new helpful ways
to remain sober one day at a time. It helps to know that
yesterday is gone forever, tomorrow hasnt come yet,
so stay in today and in the moment.

What also helped me to not drink each day is to not
have alcohol in my house. If I didnt buy it and if it isnt
easy to grab in my home, then there is no way to get
drunk and have to start the process all over again filled
with shame, regret or remorse.

Doing the footwork as was taught to me, meant
doing everything humanly possible to seek information
to help me remain sober and build a strong recovery
foundation to live my life upon moving forward.

Hold onto all your recovery lifelines for support,
helpful suggestions guiding each of you with understanding,
and care.

Keep up the good work...!!!!

Don't worry about the sleep issue Shammy. Tired but clear-headed and sober is SO much better than having 11 hours of fake sleep under your belt and feeling like death warmed over the next day. I've been sober over a year now and at least one night per week I still might not sleep a wink. But, I have turned that around and now look forward to the extra sober solitude. I don't fight the sleepless nights, I welcome them on in. I feel almost a guilty pleasure at 3 a.m. knowing that when the sun comes up I am going to be just fine.

Well done Shammy! You used tools to help you through that moment, and that is going to be so important early on. The great thing about SR is you can login on your phone if you are out and struggling.

In California wine is sold in grocery stores, and there is an entire aisle dedicated to wine and beer. I remember needing to avoid that aisle completely early on, now I can walk down it without a second thought, you will get there too.

Keep up the great work!

Good job, Cravings come and go, walk through them remember why you put the stuff down. Very difficult at first but it does get easier.

Shammy, that sort of craving can be quite common in the beginning but the way you handled it is perfect. Use that momentum. Learn from it for next time.
