Hello Jill. Glad you are here.
There are many ways to achieve continuous sobriety
if you have the willingness, openmindedness and honesty
to do the footwork to achieve it.
I myself was taught the AA program of recovery some
30 yrs ago and use it on a continuous bases as a guideline
in achieving sobriety, good health, happiness, honesty
and many more of lifes rewarding gifts.
I use SR as one of my lifelines in recovery so that I can
stay connected helping other folks and remaining teachable
to newer ideas to having fun in recovery.
Doing the footwork is important in any program of recovery
you choose to take in achieving continuous recovery for yrs
down the road.

Welcome to SR Jilga.
AA was not for me. My wellness action practice is secular in nature just like my worldview. I needed to address my illness in a way that would conflict with my personal philosophy about life. I use CBT, DBT and mindfulness therapies to keep me on a healthy path.
Here's some SR pages that may help with your recovery:

Many of us here have gotten sober without AA. Take a look around and you will see lots of different ideas on recovery. Here is a link with many suggestions:

Here’s a link to the useful thread about Addictive Voice Recognition Technique (AVRT) that has been popular here on SR for about ten years. It is a program that was developed a quarter century ago and is completely independent of other programs such as AA.
The nice thing about AVRT: it doesn’t have to take a long time to complete your recovery.

Like a lot of other people, I do not believe recovery is a result of supernatural intervention. It's something we do for ourselves. Even if you call upon a higher power, there's still a lot of plain old you that needs to be tapped, and to me those tools you find inside are vital and universal whether your approach is faith based or secular. That subset of overlap must be nurtured. Do that and you can quit drinking for good.

I am 51 days sober. Got the scar of my life, Had blood work done, Liver enzymes were high, BP sky high and wouldn't come down. Scared the crap out of me. The poison was killing me slowly. I want to be around to meet my future grandchildren. Getting drunk is not worth loosing my life. It will kill you, don't fool yourself
Hi and welcome Jilga
just so you know I removed the other thread you had in our troubleshooting forum. You’ll get a lot more response here
As others have said there are a lot of methods and practices in play here
I got sober just by using this site.
Read around, ask questions and find a way that makes sense to you

Thank you! I agree. I do have a higher power, AND I need to work and take action. I'd love to hear more of your process of getting sober. It helps me just to hear different sobriety stories!
