If I don't drink or gamble I can have nice things

I just felt like I had to say that out loud.
there are some serious freedoms that come with living without alcohol. I enjoyed a scenic walk on the weekend and there was nowhere else I wanted to be. No rush to get back for more drinks, or rush to a toilet because my guts were a mess from a long term bender.
I was content with a bottle of water and most of all content with my own thoughts. I had forgotten how much I like my own company.

Life’s way easier and better without alcohol, FC. Thanks for the nice post. Sounded like a really enjoyable day.

Yep! Twice daily I take a nice walk and listen to music....something I haven't done in a long time before this year. All added up, I have had probably more sober time this year than in a long time.

I can relate to this. My life is so much more peaceful sober. I am content with my own company and that of my critters. I am grateful for so many things and my gratitude makes me a happier person.

I drank to ease my fear of loneliness...and that fear kept me drinking for a long time. How nice to see it was completely unfounded.

Total up what it costs to drink and gamble. Throw in the cost of tobacco too, and you can see how you could afford a couple of nice things, but nice things are only one benefit of getting rid of those habits.

Jeez - I could probably have afforded maid service and a chaffeur...
