Early withdrawal is probably the worst a human being can feel without being seriously ill. It really does feel like an illness, though. You don’t want to eat, can’t sleep and anxiety is off the scale. We all know what we want in those early days, i.e. a drink, but this grim feeling passes in a week or two.

A major problem here is no one else feels that early withdrawal pain. Alex, your girlfriend won’t understand. Maybe try and explain to her if you can. It’ll seem the most natural thing to just have a drink, but hold off for just a few days more. Great things await. I don’t mean that in any spiritual or whatever way. I just mean life will be great.

Great news, Alex. You will feel much different as the days go by. Early days are rough - but you're going to be so glad you persevered.
