I have no magic words to offer. I wish I did, but there are none. No quick fixes that I know of. Alcohol feed me lies of making things going away, but it was always temporary. Inevitably followed up by winding up worse off, then before I fell for the lies alcohol told me about escape. Sobriety never lied to me. It told me it was not going to be easy. True to form, it can be a struggle at times, but it is the only true escape I have ever found.

Escape to freedom. Escape from the lies. Escape with us. It is hard, but so worth it and so are you!

Suffering and time. That is why relapse rates are high. It is permanent brain damage.

Folks can't take the physical/mental anguish. The addiction will use any reason for relapse.

Booze has to be off the table. This is like any addiction.

When I feel that I am suffering too hard, I try to get into the gym. There I can use physical stress to override that mental anguish.

When my heart rate is over 120 or so, drinking is the last thing on my mind.

You can test my strategy by cranking out 30 push ups or 2 minutes of crunches. This also produces dopemine.

Thanks.

Pattyspaw, I've been having a lot of cravings lately, too. It's not easy. Sometimes it's downright maddening. Hang in there, hon. Shut that AV down eith a resounding NO!!!

Distract yourself. I watch Lord of the Rings or stupid YouTube videos. I think Lord of the rings is over 10 hours from start to finish. I get lost in the plot every time and barely move. I actually cheer for the orcs haha

Yeah, you just have to get through it. That's the way to lessen the cravings and move on with your recovery. Good job on Day 2.

I can't stop politicians, but I don't have to listen to them.

You can't stop it. You can ignore it though.
I compare the AV to an itchy mosquito bite.
As bad as the itching is now, scratching it will only make it worse. Ignore it.
