Just needed to tell someone
I have just been through a very traumatic time in my life: retired, sold my house, moved, bought a condo, went through a living hell with a contractor I hired to work on my condo and yesterday, after 5 months of being terrorized by this contractor, my lawyer and I found a way to void the contract and fired him. Top this off with the stress we have all been facing daily with COVID-19. And through it all, I lost 12 pounds (I was not over weight to begin with) and I had a mental breakdown but I DID NOT DRINK! This may be the greatest accomplishment of my life. I still have to find a new contractor to finish the condo, but I will do that. I will be sober.
I am writing this post just because I want other who are trying to find their sober life to know, you can do it. Life can be hard but trying to navigate bad times through an endless cycle of drunk/hungover is no way to live it. If I had been drinking through this last bad patch, I probably would have killed myself. I used to consider that often when I was getting drunk every night.
If you have a lot of life challenges now, especially during this pandemic, take drinking out of your life. Every morning you can wake up sober is a better day and before long, you will look forward to waking up sober in the same way you used to look forward to your first drink every night.
it is not easy but it is possible.

I am glad you managed to get rid of the contractor but I am over the moon that you got through all of this without a drink! This is the beautiful thing about recovery...life is life and throws us some curve balls but we need never drink over them. How amazing is that?!!
Well done 😀💪🙏

Thank you for sharing and yes, we need to be prepared for the challenges of life sober. If we don't get drunk to avoid problems then we can deal with them mentally and maybe lessen them or make them go away entirely.
