Dear LM's,

after falling off the wagon (doh!) I'm back on it lol. BUT I CAN'T STOP DRINKING. How can I possibly be so dehydrated? lol I must be drinking 4 + litres of waters and fluids a day AND I'M STILL thirsty!!!

Never happened on other relapses!

Lol,

It was like that for me every time I sobered up. Give your body rest and water. Both of them your body needs to heal. It won't be like this forever, you will eventually get past this.

I also experience great thirst. In a previous long stretch of sobriety I always would tell people that I’m never more than 5 feet from a water. I eventually found an article that traced this to possible harm my drinking had done to my hypothalamus. Not sure how valid that is.

Anyway, water is good for us. It is the stuff of life.

Stay well. Have a good 24hrs.

Listen to your body, its telling you it needs water so drink plenty. I remember having episodes where when my body would start processing food etc...I would drink a ton of water.

Drinking lots of water is so good for us, especially in early days of sobriety. But, there are illnesses that cause excessive thirst, too. If it continues, I would contact my doctor.
