I'm going to try recovery again

I'm looking into a treatment facility. I"m only 33 and I've already damaged my liver. Dr. doesn't think anything is life threatening at this time but I have to end the damage very soon.

Great to see you, Thrillhou. I'm glad you realize what needs to happen. At 33 I was still trying to be a social drinker - with disastrous results. You're never alone with the struggle - we're here to listen & help if we can. Congratulations for making this life changing decision.

I learned today that there is some sort of monthly injection that you can get that helps treat addiction. Never knew that existed.

Good to see you, Thrillhou! You have so much life left to live. Sobriety will make it so much better! Devise a plan to make it happen.

Not that great. I'm freaked out about this virus thing. And my liver is bad yet I still drink because it's the only thing that calms me down.

If your liver is bad it will only get worse and kill you if you continue to drink. I just lost a friend to liver failure he was 42 years old.
That being said I know how hard it is. Good luck to you

I know, it's just my sick rationalization is that I'm going to die from this virus anyways so might as well go on a bit. It's good to get rational feedback from rational people, I need a lot of it my brain is very sick.

I think you have a far greater risk of dying from continuing to drink alcoholically than from COVO-19.

Most people seem to be recovering from COVO-19.

You're right, that's just a case of "stinkin thinking" that they talk about in AA all the time. "It's ok to die from cirrhosis because a virus that kills 2% of it's victims that I don't even have yet might get me". That is pretty bad lol.

Put in the effort to do treatment. Your body, and your mind will thank you.
I think you'll be surprised how much health actually improves in a relatively short period of time. I certainly was...
Let us know how it goes.

I'm going to contact this place called River Ridge. I actually have only been to treatment once and that was a decade ago. I completed it, but didn't really take it seriously. This place looks a lot better though.

Good for you, you’re only young don’t let booze take your life, I wish I had stopped at your age, things only escalate with drinking, you are worth more than this, do everything you can to stop now, rooting for you 👍

You can do it Thrillhou your life depends on it. It is so hard to do when everyone around you will continue to drink, you will feel left out. With some sober time you will start to feel comfortable in your own skin and start to enjoy activities you forgot all about. I am in my 50's and just beginning my sober life. In my twenties I drank like a fish with all my friends. It slowed down in my 30's and early 40's because I didn't have the time to drink I had to much to do like working, fitness and hobbies. Past 10 years i became a heavy drinker after meeting some new friends. I have stopped drinking because well it just isn't fun anymore. You can do this. Tell yourself everyday The hardest day will be getting to day 1.

I didn't take treatment facility seriously either Thrill. Not any longer.

It will give you a break away from the lot of it. Be around people who understand, and you will eat well. Your liver will get a chance to heal, and so will you.

I hope you make it happen Thrill. You're worth it remember.
