A few years back I had gout in my big toe and I thought I had broken my foot. One of the most painful things I've ever experienced. Hang in there Joshuatree. Use it as motivation. It is likely caused by drinking too much and, much like feeling hung over and hopeless, you never have to do this again. A final harsh reminder why you are doing this. Just FYI too, I drank everything I could get my hands on during my gout bout and it had absolutely no effect whatsoever on the pain, and likely made it worse. So don't try that please.

I had the same issue when trying to quit drinking. My gout would flare up something fierce in my knee and toe after a sober week. A few beers would make it disappear almost instantly. I finally had to push through the worst and it disappeared after some sober time. I was determined to not have to take another pill for the gout along with two blood pressure meds. I now take nothing. hang in there!!!
