Welcome Jetman . I tapered, although I’d tried innumerable previous tapers that led to the resumption of prior heavy drinking levels. When I finally succeeded, I determined to fight with the urge and only drink the next dose of poison, when I had to, to lessen withdrawal symptoms. I realised that previous tapers involved sticking to my pre-planned rigid schedule, which meant I sometimes had the next drink, when it was t required to quell symptoms. Plus, I repeated a couple of the lower amount days, so the final jump off was moretolerable. I also regularly monitored my BP and HR.
A bit of housekeeping - I merged your two identical threads into one here.
and a reminder to all - we can't give out tapering schedules here as that would count as medical advice.
Medical and Psychiatric advice includes giving a diagnosis, treatment plan, medication advice and dosage suggestions, over the counter and natural home remedies that should be approved by medical professionals
thanks

I'm so glad you joined us, Jetman. I'm not sure where I'd be without SR. I drank 30 yrs. too - and never imagined my life without alcohol. It really helped to no longer feel alone with the struggle. Having the support & encouragement worked - I'm over 11 yrs. sober. You can do it, Jetman.
