Congratulations on 7 years Myth! That is a serious amount of time (a biblical amount, you might say) I do enjoy reading your thoughtful posts too.

Q.) How many existentialists does it take to change a lightbulb?

A.) Two. One to change the bulb and one to bemoan the darkness.

Brilliant! I am so happy for you, MoS. When I joined SR, you were one of the people who inspired me.

Congrats!

I often ask this question about cravings - although mine have surprisingly vanished right now after 9 months - do you get still get any slight cravings to drink even after so long? You’re obviously strong enough to deal with it if so, but I’m curious.

As I say, I’m pleasantly surprised my cravings, which had been lurking in the background albeit weaker than my early withdrawal days, have gone. I’m wondering if it’s a temporary thing in my case.

Well done again 😀
Thanks! I really don't get cravings; on rare occasions I might lament that a nice red would pair well with a steak, etc but no cravings in the sense of that...I dunno, itch that you can't scratch? Oddly I still get a fair amount of drinking dreams but they don't bother me anymore. They don't go away but even in my dream I seem to know I'm dreaming, not really drinking. Weird!

Congrats!

Thanks! It's so amazing and awesome that you all are still here. I sometimes think of the 'old timers' that were here when I joined but that no longer post. I wonder, did they go back out there? Did they die? Did they just reach the point where they're strong enough that they no longer need SR? In my own case I have no urge to drink again but I still hang here every day. It's a reminder of what I have to look forward to if I ever drink, and it's gratifying to give back to those who saved me when I needed the support. With certainty I can say I've received more than I can ever repay!

Congrats MoS!!
Indeed! Like Sisyphus must embrace his burden or be destroyed by it we must embrace our sober lives, too. I do imagine Sisyphus happy!

Thanks, MOS. That’s really good to know. As I say, I’m pleasantly surprised my cravings have noticeably been absent these last few weeks. No complacency, though. 🙂
