2.5 Years Sober - Dealing with Life on Life’s Terms
Hi everyone! Still sober, still in AA, still have my sponsor, halfway through step 9, baby steps with sponsoring (1st sponsee wasn’t willing yet to do any work), have a couple of gals in the rooms I’m getting to know as friends. But feel like I’m walking through molasses right now- nothing seems easy. Maybe a case of low grade blues. I’m already on Zoloft.
Some difficulty with business stuff - finishing up a 6 month busy period and now need to build my sales pipeline again. Nothing I haven’t done before. But the stress was a trigger for a drink. Not going back there ever again. Maybe I just need to kick myself in the butt and get some exercise, change up meetings, pray more? Practicing gratitude has been a great tool for me when anxious - not sure why I feel so flat now.
Anyone experienced this feeling of being in a rut with 2 plus years of sobriety in the AA program? Felt the need to share this and get it off my chest. I love this community. I check in and get some reading in almost every night. Thank you!

Congrats on two and a half years sober! As to the feelings, I'd mention it to your doctor. Might your meds need to be adjusted? I take zoloft too and my doc started me out with a low dose and raised it until it had the desired effect.
I hope you can find some peace of mind.

Thanks Least! It’s been quite a while that I’ve been on this dosage. Talking to my doctor makes sense. I’m also entering “the change” - at 53 yo to be 54 in Oct. I’m sure that’s not helping!
Congratulations on your recovery/sobriety
accomplishment and continuously incorporating
all those important tools, knowledge and program
in your everyday affairs to get you where you
are today.
We all get in ruts or what I sometimes call it,
growing pains in recovery. Even with 28 yrs
sobriety, I still get that way but always remain
teachable in learning something new.
That's why I come here to SR after many yrs
of attending AA meetings, to read how folks
deal with everyday life in recovery. Whats
new, interesting, challenges.
Reading about their own experiences, strengths
and hopes of what life was and is like before,
during and after addiction as well as sharing my
own with them too.
New interests, new changes that work for
them which bring a brighter outlook for them,
accomplishments, serenity.
I remind myself that This Too Shall Pass
and before I know it, I'm out of my rut
and feeling grateful that Im still sober
today and living a meaningful, responsible
life to the best of my human ability.
