Just a little reminder

Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing well! I had a little reminder the other day. My wife's alcoholic sister died in October and I didn't think her husband would last very long after that. Last week no one had heard from him for a couple of days so someone stopped by to check on him and they found him on the floor. He had been there for about 3 days. They had a dog and now I have the dog. It just made me remember that it wasn't that long ago that could have been me. I am still so very grateful for this place and the kind people here that helped me through the beginning of this journey. I know that I could not have done this without you guys!grouphug:

I'm sorry for your loss tom, but I'm glad the dog has a good new home with you.

I'm sorry for the loss of your brother in law. I'm glad you took the dog tho. Dogs need a loving home and I'm glad you're going to give the dog a good home.

That's so tragic, tom. I'm very thankful we've clawed our way out of hell. The dog is fortunate to have you care for him. Thanks for a valuable post.

Tom, I'm sorry about the loss of your sister last October and of your brother-in-law. I'm so glad to hear that you took the dog.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Hopefully one person out there who is still thinking I'll quit next week, next month, after my birthday, after the wedding, etc will read this, wake up, and realize the best time to deal with a stone cold killer is today.

Tom, I am so sorry - and I too am glad you will be a loving and sober person for the dog. I know my dog didn't get the care he deserved when I was drinking. He sure does now!

And, that quote above....it's why I so often say this disease kills. Period. Sometimes folks might think that sounds too harsh - or just don't want to hear it - but it is the bottom line.

Grateful to be sober and have you all around!

Shout it from the rooftops, 8/25. The cemeteries are filled with people who didn't want to hear it.

This condition is not an inconvenience.
It is a murderer.

If anyone needs further clarification, ask Tom's dog.

I'm very sorry for your loss. That's tragic for all concerned.

I'm glad you've stayed sober.

Untreated alcoholism is tragic.

Many kind thoughts to you and your family.
